Neil Carnes was born and raised in Wayne, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayne State College in 1995 and then worked in athletic departments at the University of Missouri, Campbell University and East Carolina University. He earned a Masters Degree at East Carolina in 1998.
Later, Carnes worked in education at Ralston High School and the American School in Pachuca, Mexico. Carnes met his wife, Adriana, while teaching at the American School in Mexico. In 2003, they moved to Lexington, Nebraska where he taught Social Studies and coached basketball and football at Lexington High School. The couple has three children, Daniel, Max, and Isabella.
The family moved to Columbus in 2013 when Adriana accepted the job of Dean of Students at Columbus Middle School. She is now an Assistant Principal at CMS. Neil worked at the Schuyler Community Schools in 2013-2014 and Columbus High School and Middle School from 2014-2016. He has been a full time realtor since 2016.
Carnes’ first two years as a realtor have gone well. He has listed over 20 homes and all have sold. In 2017, he accounted for $3,300,000 worth of sales and in 2018 his sales volume topped $4,000,000.
Carnes is very active in the community. He is a member of the Morning Rotary Club, serves as a mentor for Teammates, is a team representative for the Columbus Outlaws baseball organization, is President of Sertoma and is a Director of the Columbus Board of Realtors.
A recent nominee to the Wayne High School Hall of Fame, Carnes enjoys attending sporting events, reading and travelling in his spare time.
